There are no longer vendors serving alcohol at Crab Island, but visitors are more than welcome to bring their own. Please be aware, however, that most rental companies and Crab Island tour providers do not allow glass bottles on board. If you choose to check out Crab Island via watercraft rental, please be sure to have a designated driver for your trip.

Crab Island has an average depth of around 3 feet. The center part of the sandbar is the most shallow, and can sometimes be only inches deep at low tide.

While you might see a crab here and there, they are not as abundant at Crab Island as one may think. Crab Island is home to some pretty awesome wildlife, however, and there’s a good chance you will encounter a friendly hermit crab or two along the way! Other wonderful wildlife you may see include dolphins, pelicans, herons, fish, and sea turtles!

No, the only safe way to get to Crab Island is by watercraft. You cannot drive there, and it is prohibited to swim there, as the tides and currents can be very dangerous in the channel.
